My Plant Corner
Growing My Indoor Green Corner
I’ve always loved the idea of bringing nature indoors. Plants add so much character to a room—they soften hard edges, bring in fresh energy, and remind me to slow down. Recently, I decided to transform a small corner of my room into a dedicated plant space, and it has quickly become my favorite part of the house.
Choosing the Spot
The corner I chose gets a steady stream of indirect light, which makes it ideal for most houseplants. Before, it was just an empty space, but I realized it could easily be turned into a little sanctuary. Corners have a way of feeling forgotten, and filling one with greenery instantly changes the mood of the room.
The Plants I Picked
I wanted a mix of plants that were both forgiving and visually striking. For now, my green corner has three main residents:
Spider Plant – An easy classic, with arching leaves that spill beautifully from a pot. It brings movement and life without demanding too much care.
Monstera Cutting – I started with just a cutting, and even though it’s still growing roots, it feels like a promise of the big, dramatic leaves to come. It’s a plant with personality, and I’m excited to see how it develops.
Malabar Spinach – This one is special because it’s both ornamental and edible. Its glossy green leaves climb with a gentle determination, and I love the idea of having a plant that’s practical as well as beautiful.
Setting Up the Corner
I placed the spider plant on a small stand so its leaves could cascade outward. The monstera cutting rests in a glass jar of water next to it catching the light in a simple but striking way. The malabar spinach sits in a deeper pot, where it can climb naturally once I guide it with a small trellis. it has already found a neighboring pothos and is climbing its support.
To balance the space, I added a grow light for extra support, since I am also growing spiderettes. In the evenings, it gives the corner a cozy glow while keeping the plants happy.
The Care Routine
I try to keep things simple: water only when the soil feels dry, give the leaves a gentle wipe to keep dust away, and adjust their positions if they start reaching too strongly toward the light. The malabar spinach gets a little extra attention since it grows faster than the others—it’s fun to check in daily and see new growth.
Why It Matters
This corner has become more than just a decoration. It’s a reminder to care for something daily, to slow down, and to notice small changes. Watching the monstera cutting slowly root, or the spinach vines stretch a little taller each week, feels grounding.
It’s amazing how three simple plants can transform an unused corner into a space full of life. And the best part? It’s only the beginning.
